In high school, the emphasis becomes using your plan to make the most of your high school experience.
Parents or guardians having custody or charge of any child five years of age, on or before August 1 through 17 years of age, both inclusive, shall enroll and send the child to a public, private, parochial, or home school.
You have the opportunity to participate in formal art, music, and physical education classes.
You have up-to-date technology and media center resources available in classrooms and in centers. We will guide you in becoming a more independent learner, and help you to develop confidence in your potential to do great things. You might want to play sports, sing in the choir, learn how to play an instrument in the band or orchestra, or earn positions on the Quiz Bowl, Knowledge Master Open, or BEST Robotics Teams.
All documentation must be provided and up to date to participate in early kindergarten registration. All students must attend a school in the attendance area in which they live, unless a transfer has been granted by the Director of Student Services.
The exceptions would include the following: • RESIDENCE CHANGE (A) Students legitimately enrolled in a Fort Smith Public School whose parents are in the process of building or renting a new residence within the District may elect to transfer to the school within the new attendance area by providing proof that the new residence will be completed within 60 days after the beginning of the new school year.
According to our research of Arkansas and other state lists there were 105 registered sex offenders living in Fort Smith as of June 03, 2017.
The ratio of number of residents in Fort Smith to the number of sex offenders is 833 to 1.
For those interested in trying out for the golf this coming fall you there is a mandatory meeting on May 4th.
Students registering for kindergarten and all students new to the Fort Smith schools must present acceptable proof of age, immunization records, and a social security card.
Arkansas law requires the following immunizations for children enrolling in school: Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus (DPT), Polio, Rubeola, Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Varicella.
The Fort Smith Public School District is governed by a seven-member Board of Education.
