"We think a mandate for side underride guards on large trucks has merit, especially as crash deaths continue to rise on our roads." It's easy to assume that all cars sold by major automakers in the year 2016 would perform reasonably well in crash tests, but there are still plenty of regional markets filled with vehicles that ... Assembly Bill 113 requires public and private employers with 50 or more workers to provide reasonable break time and a clean, private area for mothers to nurse their babies.IIHS estimates that in about half of all fatal crashes involving tractor-trailers and passenger cars, the passenger car traveled underneath the trailer either from the rear or from the side."In 2015, 301 of the 1,542 passenger vehicle occupants killed in two-vehicle crashes with a tractor-trailer died when their vehicles struck the side of a tractor-trailer," the IIHS said.
The sponsors of the current bills are attempting, through the personal mandate, to keep the transfers entirely off budget or--through the gimmick of unconstitutional taxes or penalties they dub "shared responsibility payments"--make these transfers appear to be revenue-enhancing.
The IIHS tests in the video above show the results of a 35-mph side impact by a sedan -- a fairly tame speed on paper -- with one trailer featuring an Angel Wing side underride protection device and another trailer just wearing a fiberglass side skirt designed to improve aerodynamics.
The video footage of the two tests speaks for itself, with the side underride guard triggering the sedan's crash safety features as designed and not permitting it to slide underneath the trailer."Our tests and research show that side underride guards have the potential to save lives," said David Zuby, the Institute's executive vice president and chief research officer.
2) They're operating from the worst kind of scarcity mentality.
They must believe that endorsing POD (or self-published) books will shine a negative light on their authors.
