At the lights, a car screeches to a halt, ticks over, rushes off. Behind him, Dan le Sac trips on a cable, swears, and spills out onto the pavement. While most of Scroobius Pips guests on his Distraction Pieces podcast are celebrities, he also likes to interview people that arent as famous but are very much worth our audience hearing. When he asked us to take part, we were happy to oblige.Scroobius Pip appears as French Bill, an assistant to Atticus, in the eight-part historical fiction series Taboo (2017) on BBC One and FX.As a teenager punk ignited Scroobius Pip's passion for music, inspiring him to buy a guitar and form various bands with his friends. It's tragic; you tried to cut yourself in half, But this isn't magic; in fact it's something much more dark, or more dramatic Self harm, that's what they call it. It's your life, your body, so you can choose what you do, And if one day you can't rein it in, and of your last breath you are the only witness, Then so be it, cause it's your last breath, and it's nobody else's business. I mean, you think your life's been bad, And by no means am I belittling that, cause I know the troubles you've had But a teen finding out her sister chose death over life, Finding out instead of turning to her with your problems, You turned to a knife That's a whole lot of pain to deal with, and a whole lot of damage And the only role model she has is little more than words engraved in granite. It's your life, your body, so you can choose what you do. Yeah, you didn't go up in a mansion, But they gave you the best life they could afford, And the second that last bit of life tickles out, and your lungs cease to breath, They've fail the most important task that they will ever receive. And if one day you can't rein it in, and of your last breath you are the only witness, then so be it, cause it's your last breath, and it's nobody else's business. They failed to give their child a life that's worth living, And that's a failure as long as they live, of themselves, is unforgiving. It's your life, your body, so you can choose what you do. I mean, you can only hold so much pain, and recently it seems like the tap's been running. They should be the ones you turn to, when you can't talk to your family.David Meads (born 3 August 1981), known professionally as Scroobius Pip, is an English spoken word poet and hip hop recording artist from Stanford-le-Hope, Essex. He first gained prominence as one half of hip hop duo Dan le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip sparked by their debut single 'Thou Shalt Always Kill'.Speaking of which, we wonder whether her ex-lover Jesse James is feeling peanut butter & jealous after looking at these two wonderful people in love!! My muse And I mean that not as a compliment I will use you to cruise through any writer's block Any lazy daze when a glazed gaze invades my mind's cave of creativity I will think of you…and what you did to me I will take negativity and make it inspire me I was not a book from a library As I stand here alone, I declare I was not a loan To be picked up and dropped off at a later date And you barely even made my spine bend Just skimmed through some of the interesting bits then skipped to the end The notes you left in my margins turned from scribbles to scars But here's the best part: You didn't even realise you were reading the first draft of a best seller The manuscript of a future Nobel prize winner This book you discarded as a pamphlet will ignite shit I will work ten times harder than before I will create art, I will create beauty I will create so many things that you can't ignore But I will not do them in your name I will not shout you from the roof tops I will tap your name out in morse code on my outer thigh As I casually accept plaudits from on high I will not to try to win you back I do not want you back I just want to show you I just need to show you what you fucking walked away from I will achieve all my goals ten-fold I will achieve your goals too, casually I will have happiness and joy in my life I will fall in love; husband, child and wife I will shine brighter than I could ever have dreamed to be And you will see me And you will see.His musical tastes quickly grew to encompass hip hop, jazz and any other genre that caught his attention and he became hooked on the lyrical talents of spoken word artists Gil Scott-Heron, Sage Francis and Saul Williams. It was their poetic mix of styles and genres that encouraged him to leave his bands and go it alone, the idea of having no one to rely on or blame other than himself an appealing challenge. It's a great little tool, because it allows you to have two streams of consciousness going on at once. If I know a song too well, I have to drag myself back." While Pip found a gateway to hip-hop through the Beastie Boys and Cypress Hill, and learnt from the incendiary hip-hop poets Saul Williams and Sage Francis that the spoken word needn't necessarily separate itself from the beat, Le Sac DJ-ed, flitted around in bands, made music in his bedroom, but never quite found what he was looking for.
